James Akinwunmi, MBBS FRCS
Dr. Akinwunmi completed neurosurgical training in Cambridge, London and Birmingham in the United Kingdom. On completion of his neurosurgical training, he was appointed as a consultant to the Radcliffe Infirmary Oxford. He then transferred to Brighton and Sussex University NHS Trust. Dr. Akinwunmi graduated from medical school in 1987, and is a fellow of both the General Surgical and Surgical Neurology Royal Colleagues.
Dr. Akinwunmi has an extensive experience in minimally spinal surgery, brain and spinal tumour surgery and pain management. He has developed specialised service in pituitary surgery, endoscopic surgery, cervical disc replacements, vertbroplasty, spinal cord stimulation for pain, percutaneous pedicle screw fixation, brain and spinal tumour management and microscopic spinal surgery. Currently, he has offices in London Harley Street and performs over 400 operations per year.
In 2007, Dr Akinwunmi founded Cayman Islands International Group to develop Neurosurgical services in the Cayman Islands at the Chrissie Tomlinson Memorial and Georgetown Hospitals. In his personal life, he has been involved in Formula One and CART racing.
Dr. Akinwunmi is licensed in the United Kingdom and the Cayman Islands, and credentialed at Chrissie Tomlinson Memorial Hospital on Grand Cayman.
